Health and Wellbeing

In addition to keeping people safe, we are committed to keeping our people healthy, motivated and engaged at work.

We carry out work place assessments regularly and actively promote ways in which to make improvements and lifestyle changes whilst at work and home.

Safety is the top priority in Halsall. We have an OHSAS 18001 accredited Health and Safety Management System and are members of CHAS, Constructionline, Safe Contractor and Exor.

We have a directly employed, experienced and dedicated SHE Manager who carries out regular visits to our construction sites to monitor health and safety compliance and performance.

Each year we set targets to achieve across a range of performance measures, one of these is our Accident Incident Rate (AIR) which is a continuously improving target for each year. Last year this was set at 0.6 and has now been reduced to 0.3 for the current year.

At our bi-annual company meeting, our Managing Director presents an award to the project team with the best health and safety record, measured on SHE Inspections and performance. The award provides both an incentive and reward for our teams to strive towards maintaining the highest levels of health and safety at all times. All Halsall sites run a ‘Don’t Walk By’ feedback and suggestion scheme to engage the workforce and help continually improve health and safety performance on every site.

In 2020 we achieved our fourth consecutive Gold award in the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
