Community Engagement

At Halsall we are committed to engaging with the local community before the work starts on site. Our effective communication process ensures that all individuals and stakeholder groups are fully informed and can provide feedback, ensuring we minimise as much disruption to local communities as possible. We aim to engage with everyone within close proximity to our projects. Some of our previous activities include visiting schools to raise awareness of health and safety and taking pupils on site visits. Considerate Constructors Scheme The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) is a non-profit-making, independent organisation set up by the construction industry to improve its image by striving to promote and achieve best practice under five key areas:
  • Care about appearance
  • Respect the community
  • Protect the environment
  • Secure everyone’s safety
  • Value their workforce
All of our sites are registered with the scheme. We take pride in achieving excellent scores and are regularly awarded performance beyond compliance certificates. You can see an example of this at the bottom of the page.

Supporting the Local Community

We are committed to investing locally and building strong, collaborative relationships with the local community. We actively use local labour and materials wherever possible on all of our projects. We are proud of our heritage as a long-standing employer in our local community and support young people starting their careers by offering structured apprenticeships, internships, and trainee and graduate roles. As well as employing locally, we also sponsor a local football team and have been involved in local charitable causes and events. For Example Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service made the most of our tower crane on our Droitwich site. It’s no surprise that the Fire and Rescue service don’t get too many opportunities to practice a tower crane emergency rescue, so they arrived in the their full uniform and did just that. We were more than happy to allow them to use our site for such an important training activity.

Added Value

We add value everywhere we can and we’ve had an amazing 2019 which has continued into 2020. We focused on maintaining our robust relationships which can be demonstrated as 70% of our projects were either from repeat clients or recommendations. As a regional principal contractor and developer, our strength is our sub-contractor base and supply chain in the areas we operate. We build firm relationships with companies around and throughout the region to allow us to deliver quality consistently. We regularly implement the use of off-site manufacture, which aids in reducing waste, lowering our environmental impact of transportation and speeding up programme, to ensure we are minimising disruption to residents, businesses, schools and all individuals that are in close proximity to any of our sites. We take our responsibility of being a neighbour whilst on site seriously. We understand development is disruptive and we aim to minimise this for those around us. Engagement with the community is undertaken throughout the development process. We aim to engage with everyone within close proximity to our projects. Some of our previous activities include visiting schools to raise awareness of health and safety and taking pupils on site visits.
